The Heart Behind Metanoia
The meaning behind the name, why I created this practice, and the kind of change I hope you'll find here.
How Metanoia Came to Be
Metanoia is a Greek word meaning a shift beyond the mind — a change of heart, perspective, & direction.
It's the kind of transformation that doesn't stay in your head. It shows up in how you live, how you feel, and how you connect. I chose it as the name of my practice because it captures what I believe therapy can be: transformative change.
I'm Jessica Hayes, LICSW, and I created Metanoia Therapy & Wellness as a space for people to explore that kind of change. As its founder and owner, I've built this practice around one belief: therapy is where growth happens. It's where you can make sense of your story, build resilience, and learn to move through life with more clarity and confidence.
My goal is for every person who comes to Metanoia to know that real change is possible for them. This is a place to find support as you navigate the changes you need to feel happier, healthier, and more at peace, even when life feels unpredictable or overwhelming. Whether we meet in person in Wakefield or online across Rhode Island, that goal guides everything we do.
Metanoia began as my vision, and as the practice grows, I lead it with that same purpose at its center. Whenever you're ready for something to shift, the first step is a free 15-minute consultation.
